Get Your Life Sorted!

Hooray! It's Marvelous Monday Wednesday! This would have gone up on Monday, but I was traveling from Sedona to Tucson, so today it is. If you're new here and don't know what Marvelous Monday is (even if it's on a Wednesday), go right over here and learn things.
This week's theme: inspired by each other!
The subtheme: inspired by Sian!
Hopefully, you all are very well aware that Sian is pretty awesome. Let's look through some of her stellar outfits:

Seriously, her style is too cool. She mixes tough black with crazy colours, punches up otherwise drab pieces with her own signature studded tough-girl thing, and has green hair. If anything else is necessary in life, then I don't know what it is anymore, I'm too enthralled by Sian's gorgeous hair.
Here's my take:
This jacket, much like Sian, makes everything tough and I like
that.

Sterling silver and (real!) opal earrings for twelve bucks from
Sedona!

Lipstick is Rimmel, Lasting Finish by Kate, in 04.
Top, jacket: Forever 21 | Skirt: made by mom | Leggings: WalMart | Boots: Forever | Earrings: Sedona
I hereby formally apologize for the state of my bed and my hair. I mean, I'm not even unpacked yet, guys. I've been sleeping and taking finals. It will all be better next time, I promise.
Anyway, go check out some inspiring and inspired ladies!

Cherry Blossoms

I went to the mall today, but with a different person from the norm: my mom. It was pretty fun, and I made out like an earring bandit. Even though I can't even switch my earrings for another two weeks. Earring Purgatory, I'm tellin' ya.
I also wore a dress that decided to give me a ton of trouble, even though it doesn't usually. I need to figure out something to keep the bodice of this dress from gaping. Also, I wore shoes that were pinchy but cute, so they were ultimately worth it. I won't be wearing them for big adventures, though.
So, despite my troubles, it was a great day. Even the outside world was all kinds of cheerful. When we got home, we noticed that the cherry tree in the front yard was suddenly blooming, and it was wonderful.
Spring can totally make up for pinchy shoes and troublesome bodices.

Yeah, I took no time in going barefoot.

Freedom Round My Neck

I recreated my Saturday outfit after all, except I wore less jewelry and my combat boots today instead.
My mom and I went to Dollar Tree, where I found myself some Spree (yeah!) and yet another mildly tacky figurine for my bookshelf. I put the lamest/greatest stuff up there, I swear. I also found a trinket box that's actually cute, so no one cares about that.
Also, I got some Fish McBites from McDonald's. They're one of the only things I'll eat from there, simply cause I'm just not a McDonald's fan. Fish McBites, mochas, and anything ice cream. An odd combination, not gonna lie. Just know that I don't enjoy them at the same time. I have limits.
And that's it.
Always with the heart sweater.
Can't stop, won't stop. Ever.

Rinaldo the Rhino.

Sherry the Glitter Owl.
I ought to show off the random collection of stuff decorating my bookshelf one of these days. Also my desk. It's great.
(I also finally wrote up an About Me page, if you haven't seen it already. I just spend a lot of time talking about clothes and ridiculous names for things. Basically, you can think of it as my blog condensed in a few paragraphs.)

Trente

So today ends 30x30 for me! I don't have  a good outfit shot, but you can use your imagination and a couple of shots I took today.
Casey and I had (yet another) mall adventure. Not only did we wander and buy stuff, we also went to a matinee showing of The Hobbit. And yep, I still really love Martin Freeman.
Today is also my mom's birthday, and we celebrated by going out to dinner.
So...
Yeah!

Sometimes, Casey and I take normal pictures.
This was not one of those times.

That's it, I need a captain's hat. I look fantastic in it.

Undici

My mom and I started our Christmas shopping today (I know, we're cutting it awfully close, but we just live life on the edge), and I'm one present short of being done. That's a nice feeling.
Although, if I'm being really honest, I think I might be two presents short. There's a copper bag at Target that  might be for me. And from me.
It's best if you don't question it.
30x30 Items:
Sweater: thrifted | Dress: Avon
Other stuff:
Bag: MulberryxTarget | Watch: mom | Bangles: vintage | Tights: WalMart | Boots: Forever 21
Two quick notes about this outfit: I've had it in my head for about a month, and I'm so pleased that it turned out the way I thought it would, and I really ought to stop calling this my Beatnik Sweater. Even if it makes me feel like I should snap instead of applaud and maybe wear a beret.
Oh, who am I kidding?
Beatnik Sweaters for life!
(I keep forgetting to link you all to Jess and Dani for their 30x30 looks. I highly suggest you ease my pain and click those links. Ease your pain too, the pain at not knowing just how glorious these ladies are. Because they are.)

I'm home!

I already miss Carpinteria. I fully intend to live there one day. That place is fantastic.
So today, you get to get caught up on my 30x30 adventures, and some travel adventures! Yeah!
Casey's parents drove us up on Sunday and stayed for the afternoon. We had good food at Tony's (they have the best ranch dressing in the history of the stuff, and pretty good fish & chips), checked out the Whimsy store on 7th Street, and took pictures of the hotel. The walls were orange and everything was all modern and I really like hotels, guys. Even if it was a Motel 6.
Monday: we walked to IHOP, hiked through a forest (using a bike path, so it wasn't a hike. At all. I don't care), and found a park. I also ended up buying lipstick and nail polish. That is why people don't leave me alone! My mom drove up around two and then we chilled at the hotel for a long while. That was our beach day. We swam out pretty far and sang "Bohemian Rhapsody" and got hypothermia. That's always fun. We had the Spot for dinner (home of some stupendous burgers, you know), and Casey and I played with snails for a while. They even had names!
Tuesday: We went to the Worker Bee Cafe for a really awesome breakfast, checked out some antique stores (they have good ones there), and got Starbucks on Linden. I got Warheads and rock candy from Robitaille's, to sate my sweet tooth. I got sixteen books (for sixteen bucks! I love you, Friends of the Library!) and even got to spend a bit of time thrifting. That wasn't particularly fruitful, but I know that store exists. After spending some time back at the hotel (mostly on the internet. Livin' the big life), we went back to the beach to look for rocks and shells. Dinner that night was Mexican at Rudy's, and awesome.
Wednesday: breakfast burritos at The Spot, and coming home. It was all very, very sad. Also, this was today. Surprise! (it was for me.)
Now: Pictures!

Celebrate Your Mother.

Seriously, guys.
I'm also pretty sure you should be doing your field assignments instead of watching Benedict Cumberbatch be flawless Sherlock. Or maybe that's just me.
Anyway, here's what I wore on an exciting trip to the grocery store.

Dress: Ross | Sandals that you can barely see, unfortunately: Payless | Purse: Charlotte Russe | Sunglasses: Tilly's | Matryoshka necklace: Forever 21.
I just love this sweet little necklace! Everyone needs Russian nesting dolls in their lives, and on their necks.
Happy Mother's Day! Go bake your mom some cookies or lemon bars or something, and be her favourite child for the day.
Also, since it is Mother's Day: I love you , Mom! You've always been really good at hiding that cape, but we all know that you're a superhero. All of those good pieces of me come from you, I'm sure of it. So thank you for being half of my genetic code, and my favourite superhero. You really are the best.
