This Just In

I need to stop cutting my hair. I miss maiden braids.

But come on, we all know I'm going to get my hair cut within the next couple of weeks.

Justice!

I had jury duty this week, and felt like a real, proper grown-up. I went in yesterday and found out that one of my friends was serving the same day. So we sat around, being bored together and eating veggie burgers and teriyaki bowls, waiting, sitting in disappointing courtrooms, being sent home early, and all that jazz. Two days of basically nothing. But, it's all good.
I did get a mall trip and haircut out of it, plus I got to spend time with one of my friends. That's a good couple of days altogether, man.
Yesterday's outfit wasn't really anything special, but today, I felt like a lawyer.
Worth it.
A real, proper grown-up with a messy room. Yep.

I walked into the beauty school and forgot I was growing out
my hair.

Waiting Game

While looking for inspiration for my pixie cut, I found a lot of comments along the lines of "Oh, I wish I could pull this off! I'm not pretty/thin/whatever enough! Woe is me!" Another common theme was, "I'll go do this once I lose all this weight!"
Okay, look. Self-control is a good thing. Otherwise, society wouldn't function. But come on guys, making excuses is just plain silly.
If you want a pixie cut, or a cute bathing suit, or a pair of jeans, go for it. Why make yourself wait for something you really, really want? Why attach an arbitrary amount of time to it, a hurdle you have to jump before you can reach the finish line and the bikini you've always wanted?
Having a reward system is good, but don't limit yourself! If you want a pixie cut, then go out and do some research and then chop it all off! The only thing stopping you should either be money (I know that feel) or just fear at having short hair. That's all good.
Whether you're skinny, fat, tall, short, purple, whatever, you can pull it off. No matter what it is.
No, go off my friends and cut your hair off like I did it's lonely over here enjoy your life!
Seriously.

Right Turns

Once again, I went driving and realised that, wow, it had been a while. Not good.
Luckily, I did as I always do: keep driving and remember to do all that stuff drivers have to remember. I was better at the end than I was at the beginning.
Also, I spent a bit of time looking at all of my hair accessories last night, putting away the ones that don't look good or won't work with my hair now, and I've discovered that headbands and pixie cuts are meant to be.
I really need a new pair of tights. These are slowly becoming
made of holes.

Girl Looks Like a Boy

Usually, I'm totally convinced that my hair makes me look like a twelve-year-old boy. The rest of the time, I'm absolutely positive that my hair is in a ponytail or bun. I guess I'm still not totally used to it, but that's cool, I still love it way too much.
I spent all of today wandering around town with Erika, with Starbucks and Subway as nice little treats. Well, one was a treat; the other was lunch. We worked up quite the appetite while exploring the somewhat dingy, slightly grotty "mini mall." I love it, though. I mean, what's better than being able to buy parrots and fake Chucks under the same roof?

I dunno, I totally look like an adolescent boy with this hair.

SO done with Earring Purgatory. Three more weeks till I can
switch them!

I don't care if it's not my house, this is my spot.

Lust List: Headgear

I'm not sure if it's just me, or if it's a universal pixie cut fact, but my head gets cold more easily than ever now, and I don't like that. I'll be especially glad when winter stops doing its thing and lets spring take over.
Of course, last night was both cold and windy, so that might have something to do with my head being freezing the whole time, but I choose to assume it's due to my short hair.
Anyway, I spent quite a lot of time trying on hats, mostly to see what I could pull off now. And since it seems like the pixie goes hand-in-hand with hats, I made this list.
Maybe I can find some nice, warm beanies soon. Either that, or this cold has got to stop doing what it's doing.

Let Me Just Say...

...Martin Freeman's haircut would make a great pixie cut.
(Ginnifer Goodwin, Michelle Williams, and Carey Mulligan are still my biggest hair inspirations, though.)

Hack Job

I said I might make a post full of pictures with pixie cuts, didn't I?
Well, regardless, here is said post. I'm not sure when it's happening, but it'll be fairly soon. Next month or earlier, depending on a handful of things. Well, one thing: how soon I'm ready to do it. But I think my deadline might be... Oh, I dunno, March 3rd? That's a good date, right?
A few things I like about pixie cuts: I can dye all of my hair pink without using too much dye (don't know why that matters, at all), I can have Ondine hair (see Audrey picture below), and I'm fairly certain that tangles are physically impossible. Hooray for that!
Anyway, here are some pixies I find particularly inspiring. I love Carey Mulligan's especially, it's just perfect.

Pixie perfect.

(Incredibly) Easy Bun

Oh, look, second post of the day! Doing hair things!
Well, I say that. It's really just me being incredibly awkward in front of a camera. This is what I'm really like, guys. Bask in it.

(Super) Easy Maiden Braids

Okay, so. You've seen this hairstyle before, done on my friend Erika's hair, but I thought I'd show you how I do it on a regular basis. Via video. Because this is the future.
I don't know.
It's the same exact style, just simple maiden braids, just done more simply. It's easy, it's messy, and I think it looks good. That's all that matters, right?

Heidi's Cooler Cousin

Okay, so I promised a hair tutorial. Well, here it is.
Let me just say that I fully believe in easy, no-fuss, quick, somehow cute hairstyles. They're my favourites. When my hair's up, I basically switch between this, a bun, and a ponytail.
I used Erika's hair for this one. It's super curly, and it looks pretty cute. I have thin, super-straight hair, and I think it looks pretty cute. (Look here and here for visual proof). So, without further ado: some super easy maiden braids. Note that when I say easy, I mean it—I've done it on buses and trains without mirrors. So read, learn, and go for it.
