Oh, Pablo

It's another super late Marvelous Monday post on a day that's not Monday!
Sheesh.
This theme is celebrity-inspired.
Now, I don't live under a rock. As you can tell, I live in a pretty nice dorm with five other people. There are very few rocks even in sight, and I don't live under any of them. Thus, I know abut modern celebrities. More importantly, I know that quite a few of them have some rad style. I don't really care about Taylor Swift's music, but I do care about her closet. Same goes for Kim Kardashian and...whatever she does, and her closet. I don't care, but I'm aware.
All of this is to say that I totally know about modern celebrities, even though I'm channeling Pablo Picasso today. And why wouldn't I? He's one of the most well-known painters in history, he was friends with Jacques Cousteau, and he could do stripes like no one else. I mean, look at this guy:
I just got dressed to get some breakfast at the cafe, but let me tell you, dressing up with one of my favorite artists in mind totally helped make the morning trek a little more bearable.
I promise I wore shoes today. I really did.

Kind of Obnoxious

Welcome back, dear readers, to yet another Marvelous Monday!
This week's theme: neon!
I don't know if this will come as a surprise or not, but I don't own any neon clothes. I know, it's shocking, right? Well, I do have some neon accessories, and I wore a couple of them with a simple black and white dress for extra impact.
That fantastic, aggressively neon bag is a Nine West bag my mom and I found in Ross last December. I loved it so much that my mom ended up getting it that day and then giving it to me as a Christmas present. Considering the fact that it's Nine West, it was dirt cheap, and an amazing find.
The necklace has a much less interesting story. It was a dollar from Forever 21.
And I have to apologise for the state of my room. Half of it is dominated by Kittentopia (which, unfortunately, will be dismantled toward the end of the week, as we're starting to find homes for them), and the other half by boxes. That whole moving thing is starting to get pretty real, and I'm so incredibly excited. And on top of that, I'm starting to get things together for our upcoming family vacation. Things are a bit more frenetic than usual, and it's manifesting as a mess in my room.
I've also started getting into painting. While I don't paint faithful representations of the fake daisies on our dining table, it is a lot of fun for me. I'm planning on painting and embroidering a bunch of stupid things and putting them on the walls of my room in the dorm.
And then, I did something crazy a couple of days ago: I sent a query letter to a literary agent. We'll see where that goes, if anywhere.
Finally, I've started speaking to some of my suitemates. It's weird to start thinking of them as real people I'll be living with for sixteen weeks, rather than blank entities I'll live with eventually, in the vaguely distant future. I don't mind it, actually. And at least one of them has a face, as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, enough of that. How about some clothes and paintings? Yeah.

I want this in the kitchen. I hope my roommates aren't put off
by that.

My favourite quote.

Some of my things and an AWESOME present
from Dani.
Now that you've experienced my babbling and wild mess, go cast your eyes in the direction of the others!

Justice!

I had jury duty this week, and felt like a real, proper grown-up. I went in yesterday and found out that one of my friends was serving the same day. So we sat around, being bored together and eating veggie burgers and teriyaki bowls, waiting, sitting in disappointing courtrooms, being sent home early, and all that jazz. Two days of basically nothing. But, it's all good.
I did get a mall trip and haircut out of it, plus I got to spend time with one of my friends. That's a good couple of days altogether, man.
Yesterday's outfit wasn't really anything special, but today, I felt like a lawyer.
Worth it.
A real, proper grown-up with a messy room. Yep.

I walked into the beauty school and forgot I was growing out
my hair.

Dust Bowl

Marvelous Monday is here!
If you're not sure what that is, then pay a visit right here and educate yourself, yo.
This week's theme: maxi skirts or dresses!
You know how I totally play favourites with items of clothing? Today was no exception. I love this skirt.  I paired it with boots and a jacket, effectively covering most of my body and keeping me safe from this ridiculous dust storm my town's been caught in. It's absurdly windy, and everything smells like dirt, and you can barely see for all the dust outside. It's like a brown fog, but more...particulate.
My mom and I braved the Dust Bowl-like outside world to get groceries. In the brief minutes between house and car, it already felt like I was coated in the stuff.
Not pleasant.
Hopefully, the others have had nicer weather.

Charlie likes to roll all over the floor to get my attention.
Needy.
Just kidding, I love her.

Skirt, jacket: Forever 21 | Top: Torrid | Boots: Forever | Sunglasses, earrings: Claire's
And now you should go pay a visit to the others, because I'm sure you're as curious about how they styled their maxi things as I am.

Breakfast Burritos and Naps

Guess what, guys: it's Monday! Awww yeah. It's marvelous.
Our philosophy is this: Monday is nobody's favourite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We're on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!
This week's theme: something we have trouble styling.
I have a whole bunch of things in my closet and dresser that I don't wear much anymore, unfortunately. Tops, sweaters, leggings. A lot of leggings. I'm really not one for them anymore. But when I pulled out this denim dress, I knew that the leggings would come out of hiding. I have trouble trying to find a way to wear them in a way that I like, and that fits my current aesthetic, and I think it totally worked out.
It's all cause of the boots, man.
This is what I wore to get up way too early to run errands with my mom after my rotten cat woke me up at 3:51 in the morning by climbing on a panel of fabric on my wall. Le sigh.
It was worth it, though—I got a breakfast burrito, and then I came home and took a nap.
This is my spring break, and I'm so okay with that.

Pencil Pusher

Well, it's Monday, and you know what that means! It's Marvelous Monday! Yeah!
Our philosophy is this: Monday is nobody's favourite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We're on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!
This week's theme: pencil skirts.
Now, I'm that really lame girl who doesn't own one. I know, I know. I've never really found one that I love, so the hunt continues. So we can all pretend that this dress is my pencil skirt. We can do that, right?
I basically wore this to get a bunch of snacks for an upcoming adventure. People have to learn that if they let me get food without structure, I will come back a weird amalgamation and no regrets.
Also, dried figs. Yum.

Looklooklook, new earrings! Earring Purgatory is over!

Dress: Ross | Blouse, necklace: Forever 21 | Bag: Volcom (from Ross, probably) | Sunglasses: Tilly's | Hose: Avenue | Flats: Payless | Earrings: Claire's
Fortunately, I'm pretty sure the others actually have pencil skirts and aren't lame like me. So go pay them some attention, they deserve it.

Spring Forward

Take my title as a gentle reminder that Daylight Savings is either starting or ending—either way, turn your clocks forward an hour, if you haven't already. Either that, or live in the past.
Today has basically involved groceries, Girl Scout cookies, and bees. No one got stung, but things are in bloom, and they're everywhere.
Tonight will be art homework and lots of Red Dwarf. I know, I'm excited too.
I was only mildly worried about all the bees.

Magic Lipstick

Yesterday was a good one. I spent the majority of the afternoon just entertaining my niece and nephews, and they are so easy to entertain. All Banana needs is a stuffed animal audience. The boys just need me to draw all the sharks their little hearts can handle.
I spent the evening with Erika and our friend Yesenia. Erika kind of spontaneously decided that it was a good night for Chinese, and so we went to the usual place. I showed them my magic lipstick, and they're converts. It's called Moodmatcher, and it's one colour in the tube, but shows up a completely different colour on skin. In addition to being a pretty colour, it lasts forever, and yes, it's magic.
After our kung pao shrimp and orange chicken, we made a quick run to the mall to get Erika and Yesenia some magic lipstick all for their very own.
Immediately after that, we went to pay a visit to the Kingyo boys while they practiced. I don't know why I always forget how good they are, because they are really good.
Erika tried to pressure/tease Beyrin into singing, and soon everyone in the room was doing the same. There was an impromptu show for us, and I was the only one to clap because I'm the only one with manners.
All in all, it was a great night, and I've converted my friends to the ways of magic lipstick.

Till You Drop

My mom and I did a bit of shopping, which was nice. I think it was mostly to celebrate the fact that she's finally got her own car back (long story short: it didn't work, and now it does). We traipsed around town, bought a few things, and then came home.
The only real snafu was when we went to pay for a pair of shoes, only to discover that they were two different sizes. I would have gotten home, worn them, and been fully convinced that there was something wrong with my foot. I ended up getting a different pair, but still. Leave it to me to find a non-matching pair of shoes.
I also did quite a bit of driving! We're talking driving on the freeway, taking a roundabout (I hate roundabouts), and some three-point turns. I'm, like, a driving master now.
Which is a lie.
But just be cool and let me believe.

Right Turns

Once again, I went driving and realised that, wow, it had been a while. Not good.
Luckily, I did as I always do: keep driving and remember to do all that stuff drivers have to remember. I was better at the end than I was at the beginning.
Also, I spent a bit of time looking at all of my hair accessories last night, putting away the ones that don't look good or won't work with my hair now, and I've discovered that headbands and pixie cuts are meant to be.
I really need a new pair of tights. These are slowly becoming
made of holes.

Sassy Goldfish

I spent the morning at Casey's today, playing Infinity Blade (fun, but painfully repetitive) and watching Important Things with Demetri Martin. I always forget just how much I love him, and how much I love that show. I don't understand how it was only on for two seasons.
Eventually, we roused ourselves and headed out into the world. First farmer's market in ages, aww yeah. Unfortunately, only one person recognised us, as most of the other vendors were gone. Well, not gone so much as replaced with strangers we've yet to properly break in. That was disappointing.
I got cucumber soda (my favourite), Casey got Jones, and we continued wandering. I finally heard "Thrift Shop," and oh man, I think I'm in love with that song. It's hilarious.
After wandering even more and traipsing through our favourite vintage shop (I so should have bought the yodeling hat, it was surprisingly cute and I was totally channeling Peter Pan), we met up with Erika and Beyrin.
Erika and I stopped in to visit with her hairdresser, who also happens to be a family friend. He cut my hair once before (back in March), and the pair of them carried on and on about my hair, but I think it's growing on Erika. I certainly hope so.
More wandering, and eventually, we ended up in a coffee shop where we developed a children's book that will be awesome. I'd love for it to be a thing. Maybe we're all a bit overexcited, but I don't care, it's perfect.I can't wait to see our other friends' reactions to it.
And now I'm going to spend the rest of my night reading and watching Red Dwarf. (By the way, Lister and Cat might be my new style icons. Yes.)
The life I lead is an adventurous one.
Thank you, Casey.

Freedom Round My Neck

I recreated my Saturday outfit after all, except I wore less jewelry and my combat boots today instead.
My mom and I went to Dollar Tree, where I found myself some Spree (yeah!) and yet another mildly tacky figurine for my bookshelf. I put the lamest/greatest stuff up there, I swear. I also found a trinket box that's actually cute, so no one cares about that.
Also, I got some Fish McBites from McDonald's. They're one of the only things I'll eat from there, simply cause I'm just not a McDonald's fan. Fish McBites, mochas, and anything ice cream. An odd combination, not gonna lie. Just know that I don't enjoy them at the same time. I have limits.
And that's it.
Always with the heart sweater.
Can't stop, won't stop. Ever.

Sherry the Glitter Owl.
I ought to show off the random collection of stuff decorating my bookshelf one of these days. Also my desk. It's great.
(I also finally wrote up an About Me page, if you haven't seen it already. I just spend a lot of time talking about clothes and ridiculous names for things. Basically, you can think of it as my blog condensed in a few paragraphs.)

Round and Round

So, today I did a lot of things. Namely, I got dressed, took way too many pictures of my face and my new favourite sunglasses, played favourites with my jackets, and drove. In traffic. A lot.
Yeah.

Jacket, top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Fashion Bug | Tights: WalMart | Boots: Forever | Sunglasses: Image
And, you know, music task of the day: a song I want at my funeral. I'm actually really glad that I wrote this up after driving; otherwise, it would feel like tempting fate. Even if I did a pretty good job, thankyouverymuch.
The song is "The Lark Ascending," by Ralph Vaughan Williams. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, so...yep.
Also, a quick note. Next month will be the wonderful Fatshion February, and it will officially be my third. I'll be posting here, and my tumblr, so you can't miss me wearing clothes in February. Let me know if you'll be joining me! It won't serve much purpose, but I like knowing.

Ventinove

I went driving today, which was only mildly terrifying, thankyouverymuch.
So, real quick: here's what I wore.
30x30 Items:
Tee: Lane Bryant | Skirt: ASOS Curve
Other stuff:
Shoes, jacket: Forever 21 | All jewelry: Charming Charlie | Tights: WalMart | Sunglasses: Tilly's | Bag: MulberryxTarget
Now, I've got three days worth of music tasks to catch you up on. Not sorry.
A song I used to love but now hate: "Some Nights" by fun. I love the song, but I just really hate that Autotune chunk in the middle.
A song I often hear on the radio: I don't know, uh, something by One Direction? I don't listen to radio much, or whatever. I'm lame.
And finally, a song I wish I heard on the radio: "Santa Ana Winds" by Cold War Kids. Solely for the fact that I love them, okay?

Another Lazy Day

If I keep this up, I might just win an award for Laziest Human. Except I did register for classes, so there's that. Four science classes (yesss) and an art class. Perfect.
Anyway, here's today's music selection. It's a song that makes me sad, which just so happens to be "Fur Alina." It's also one of the prettiest songs, I think.

Diciannove

Today was dull. Just some errands, basically.
And now that I have worn clothes and gone out into the world (and blogged about it), I'm off to sleep this cold away. That's all I ever want to do when I'm sick. Well, that, and drink scalding hot tea. That one will have to wait, though.

30x30 Items:
Tee: Old Navy | Skirt: mom's
Other stuff:
Sunglasses, collar: Charming Charlie | Bag: Target | Tights: WalMart | Shoes: Vans
The thing about this tee-shirt is that I really, really want to wear it to the Long Beach Aquarium. And stand in front of the hanging blue whale and have pictures taken of both the whale, and me in my whale tee, and it would be a whale of a good time.
And that's why you should never discuss clothes under the influence of a cold, guys. Things get a little weird.
(As ever, go check out Dani and Jess and be happy.)

Quattordici

This is what I wear when I brave the Christmas Eve Eve (I felt like Phoebe, and it felt good) masses of WalMart.
It's also what I wear when I try to get my cat to come out of a tree because, no, you are not going to catch that bird, you're not as stealthy as you seem to think you are.

30x30 Items:
Sweater: thrifted | Skirt: mom
Other stuff:
Bag: Target | Tights: WalMart | Boots: Payless | Sunglasses: Tilly's
(Go pay Dani and Jess a visit for their 30x30 looks.)

Dieci

Today included naps (in the multiple, blissfully enough), attempting to draw my nephew (who refused to sit still, but I did it, more or less), and a trip to WalMart.
I love my break already.

30x30 Items:
Skirt: mom | Tee: Torrid
Other Stuff:
Jacket: Forever 21 | Tights: WalMart | Boots: Payless
This is the collective doodle my art group did yesterday. If you want to see anything in detail, let me know and I'll post pictures of those specific things. Because, guys, this thing is really cool.
