Magic Lipstick

Yesterday was a good one. I spent the majority of the afternoon just entertaining my niece and nephews, and they are so easy to entertain. All Banana needs is a stuffed animal audience. The boys just need me to draw all the sharks their little hearts can handle.
I spent the evening with Erika and our friend Yesenia. Erika kind of spontaneously decided that it was a good night for Chinese, and so we went to the usual place. I showed them my magic lipstick, and they're converts. It's called Moodmatcher, and it's one colour in the tube, but shows up a completely different colour on skin. In addition to being a pretty colour, it lasts forever, and yes, it's magic.
After our kung pao shrimp and orange chicken, we made a quick run to the mall to get Erika and Yesenia some magic lipstick all for their very own.
Immediately after that, we went to pay a visit to the Kingyo boys while they practiced. I don't know why I always forget how good they are, because they are really good.
Erika tried to pressure/tease Beyrin into singing, and soon everyone in the room was doing the same. There was an impromptu show for us, and I was the only one to clap because I'm the only one with manners.
All in all, it was a great night, and I've converted my friends to the ways of magic lipstick.

You Enjoy Your Fashion Week

I'll enjoy my...naps? Don't you worry, I'll find a sufficient method of curing boredom.
Real quick update: spent the day with Erika yesterday. We did some homework (I now know the difference between Lei and lei in Italian, if you're curious), went to an open mic night at a coffee shop, and ended up spending a good hour eating pizza and buffalo wings with friends. I definitely need more nights like that!
Now for makeup. It's still very light and subtle (except for the blush, but it doesn't help that I was flushed beneath the makeup. Heat is awful), but also very blue. I don't know.

Purple and Black

First: I've finally seen the new Doctor Who episode, and I'm just so excited to see more of Oswin.
Second: I'm starting a new project. Today.
You see, a couple years ago, I bought this giant palette from Sephora. It was cheap, considering the brand, the quality, and the sheer amount of stuff. But in two years or so of owning it, I've hardly used it. I've finally decided that I'll change that. What better way to, you know, enforce that than to use it (and only it) for a full week? For the next seven consecutive days, I will be using the Sephora kit, various brushes, and my Rimmel mascara. That's only because I'm not going to use two-year-old mascara. Sorry.

Today, I went for some purple and black to match this skirt. What can I say? I like the combination.
I layered purple and black gel eyeliner, dusted a thin layer of purple eyeshadow, and applied slightly iridescent purple lip gloss. Let it be known now, though, that I'm not the best at applying eye makeup, and the lip gloss didn't have the best payoff, but I'm happy with how it all turned out. Hey, maybe my skills will improve! I can only hope.

Lots of Planets Have a North

It's another nail tutorial! The nail art itself is easy enough, I'm just not the best at it. Yet. One day.
Regardless, here's a step-by-step adventure in nail painting.
Here's what you need:

  • Two colours of nail polish (it's best if they contrast fairly well, but you live your life!)
  • Base coat
  • Top coat (or just use clear polish for the base/top, but it's best if you have these. They're nice to have.)
  • Nail brush (a thin one is your new best friend)

Blue: I Need a Refresh-Mint (Wet n Wild)
White: French White (Ruby Kisses)

Silver-Ish Lining

True story: I love nail polish.
Also a true story: I have a lot of it. But not nearly enough. It would be getting to a ridiculous point if I wasn't totally okay with it.
Tonight, I decided that I was going to do something fairly interesting with my nails, rather than just leave them one colour. My plan changed about three different times. I'm happy with the end result.
What you'll need: a base coat (or a base/top coat, or whatever you have), sky blue polish (or any colour, but just go with me on this), paper reinforcers (which will be nixed halfway through because of reasons), white polish (also nixed), silvery-blue polish, clear polish (or something to use as a top coat), polish remover, and something to remove the polish with.
Basically, it's just a bunch of normal nail-painting things, with the addition of an extra colour. I like making things seem more complicated than they are.

Leopard Lady

Let's start this post off with an outfit.

Shirt: Sure Clothing | Necklace: vintage | Bangles: Forever 21 | Skirt: Forever 21 | Orange bracelet: Casey | Shoes: Payless | Sunglasses: Tilly's
Also: I clearly have a thing for Wet 'n' Wild makeup, since both my lipstick and my eyeliner are from them, not that you can see my eyeliner. It's purple. But you know, I do love their lipstick. I have, like, five different shades.
Anyway.
You'll notice that my room is still messy. I'll probably be that way till next Friday. I've been pretty busy lately, studying, doing homework, writing, taking buses and trains everywhere, and watching Doctor Who. This semester can't end soon enough.
So next month will see a couple of awesome things. First and foremost: Casey and I are going to Carpinteria for a few days, and my level of joy is beyond containing. Second: I'm joining in the 30x30 Remix. Go check out DIY Fatshion and Animated Cardigan for more information. It's pretty simple, though. You pick thirty items of clothing and remix them every day of the month. It's an awesome way to look at your clothes more creatively. I know I fall into that rut where I wear the same outfits every week. Well, with some variation. Anyway, I'm going to be posting daily, or as close as I can get to it. It'll be like Fa(t)shion February, except in June, and more closet-oriented.
Welp, that's it. I'm off to figure out my thirty items, and watch the rest of season four. Enjoy your Friday! Oh, and let me know in the comments if you're planning on participating in 30x30, too!
