Liebster, Again

Yeah, that's right, I'm doing it again. Mainly because Sian tagged me, and I like talking about myself. I'm not even sorry.
So, here are the rules, because there are rules. I guess.

  • Write up eleven (more, ugh) facts about yourself
  • Answer some questions given by the person who tagged/nominated you
  • Tag some folks you're aggressively nosy about
  • Write up eleven questions for them, cackling all the while.
And now, I have to figure out eleven things to tell people about myself that I haven't already told you. I believe in me!

Dream Big

We're all dreamers, more or less, right? I mean, at least at some point in our lives, we've had a million and seven big dreams that carried us through boring math classes and people saying it worn't work and boring days where nothing gets done.
I like to think that my dreams, big and otherwise, are more like ambitions than anything, though. And I have a lot. And, since I'm a bit bored and feel like writing (which makes this blog especially handy, really), I'm going to tell you about some of my dreams. Cause why not?

  • To get published. You know I've finished my first novel, and I'm fairly certain I'm done with editing (unless someone says otherwise). I've finally had someone read the whole thing, and she absolutely loved it. She's told me that she hates me, and I'm thrilled that she's emotionally invested enough to do that. (She doesn't actually hate me, of course.) I have another person reading it, which is great. I'm still game to have more readers, so feel free to drop me a line if you're interested. I might start looking into a literary agent soon, and a few publishers. I'll keep you updated here!
  • To design a clothing collection. I'm not particularly good at sewing, and I just don't like it, much to my mom's eternal chagrin. However, I do love designing. They're not particularly technical, and I don't draw croquis or anything, but I love coming up with new clothing designs. I would be fantastic to work with a brand and come out with a line, but as I've got no technical skills, I doubt anything would really come of this. It's still fun to do, though. Maybe one day I'll post some of my doodles.
  • A doctorate degree. Yeah, I'm going to be in school until the end of time, but I want to be Dr. Sarah Springer, scientist extraordinaire. I really just want to be among the best in my field.
  • To travel the world. Every single place I can physically step foot on, including Antarctica. I'd actually really, really love to go there, and I'd love to do it with my one-day job.
  • To own a sailboat, which needs no more explanation.
So, yeah, that was fun. What kinds of big ol' awesome dreams are swirling around in your head? What gets you through sociology classes you don't take seriously because of the professor and his annoying fonts? What makes your life a better place aside from cupcakes and campfires?

Back in the Day

Guess what: it's Marvelous Monday! If you're new, go here and learn more.
This week's theme: inspired by a childhood picture!
I'm a nostalgic person, and I take pictures of everything. I also occasionally put those things into scrapbooks, but that mild obsession mostly died out in middle school. Now I use one of those Smash books, and it's slowly filling with fortunes, movie tickets, and random little notes. One of these days, though, I'll add photos.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure nostalgia is genetic, as there are so many pictures of me back when I was a kid. My first eight years or so are very well documented. It was no trouble finding a picture, but it was a bit troublesome to find an outfit to base around it.
Whatever.
The outfit works, and in the picture, I'm eating cake. It was my birthday party, though I don't remember which. Regardless, I don't have cake now, and I really prefer cheesecake, so I've posed myself doing something I did all through childhood, something that I still do now.
Reading.
Yup. I was that dorky little kid spinning around in circles for way too long, reading while walking, and pretending I was Sailor Moon. Now, I still walk around with my nose in a book, but I've given up on spinning for days and playing pretend. You have to make room for things when you grow up, like watching Doctor Who and continually craving pupusas.
The inspiration. I'm so charming.

Dress: Forever 21 | Tights: WalMart | Shoes: Payless | Collar: DIY | Rope bracelets: Claire's | Bead bracelet: gift
Now, go check out the others' childhood-inspired looks!

Liebster

Jess recently did this thing called the Liebster Award. That thing entails posting eleven things about myself, then answering eleven questions. I warn you here and now that this will be a long post. I regret nothing.
Eleven things about me!
(Totally doesn't call for an exclamation mark.)

Lust List: Mermaids Are a Serious Problem

I've been really into mermaids lately. If I could, I'd be drawing them. As it is, I'm writing about them.
That's why this list is devoted to those fishy, mythological creatures. And while the connection might seem tenuous at best, I choose to believe that I am one with the merpeople. After all, when I was around five, I was fully convinced that I could be a mermaid when I grow up. Now, I'm going to be a marine biologist, and that's close enough for me.

(Once) Master Flautist

So, my life is boring. Still.
All I've done lately is write, watch my cat fly around the living room (almost literally, sometimes), and sleep. And that is precisely how it should be.
Anyway, today's musical challenge is quick and easy. That would be: a song I can play on an instrument!
You all should know that, if you give me a piano, glockenspiel, or a xylophone, I will play "Happy Birthday To You" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Every. Single. Time. They're basically all I know how to play. I used to play the flute, and I used to be quite good at it, but that was years ago and I've since given it to my aunt.
So...
Yeah.
As a consolation prize, here's one of the songs I've been listening to way too much lately. Enjoy. Or don't.

Five Things

Since I am the kind of person that I am (you're welcome for that, by the way), I thought I'd give you guys a post and let you in on what makes your dear blogger friend tick.
And, okay, yeah, maybe I just felt like posting something that wasn't an outfit. Sshhh...

So, without further ado: Five Things You Might Be Interested in Knowing About Your Blogger. You can mentally change the name as you see fit.
