Mall Style

I saw a girl at the mall the other day with style I really admired. Purple lipstick, flawless eyeliner, a jacket I would have sold my soul for—the whole shebang. I feel like there isn't much original style where I live, especially in the plus size community, and I thought it was awesome that her outfit was so freaking cool.
I was tempted to take her picture before realising a couple of things: I can barely talk to people (I did manage to compliment the jacket, though), this blog is not one for street style, and I don't want to do street style.
I like street style, a lot. There are so many interesting people out there dressing in such interesting ways, and I love being able to see it. I've seen some great sites with plus size street style as well (The Manfattan Project is awesome), which just makes my heart go all aflutter.
Some days, I'd really like to try my hand at it, just give local girls with style I admire a bit of a spotlight, but then I decide that, nah, I barely even take pictures of myself anymore.
We'll see where this blog takes me, if anywhere at all.
And that, guys, was a long and drawn-out way of saying that I saw a girl at the mall with a really cool outfit.

Cherry Blossoms

I went to the mall today, but with a different person from the norm: my mom. It was pretty fun, and I made out like an earring bandit. Even though I can't even switch my earrings for another two weeks. Earring Purgatory, I'm tellin' ya.
I also wore a dress that decided to give me a ton of trouble, even though it doesn't usually. I need to figure out something to keep the bodice of this dress from gaping. Also, I wore shoes that were pinchy but cute, so they were ultimately worth it. I won't be wearing them for big adventures, though.
So, despite my troubles, it was a great day. Even the outside world was all kinds of cheerful. When we got home, we noticed that the cherry tree in the front yard was suddenly blooming, and it was wonderful.
Spring can totally make up for pinchy shoes and troublesome bodices.

Yeah, I took no time in going barefoot.

Trente

So today ends 30x30 for me! I don't have  a good outfit shot, but you can use your imagination and a couple of shots I took today.
Casey and I had (yet another) mall adventure. Not only did we wander and buy stuff, we also went to a matinee showing of The Hobbit. And yep, I still really love Martin Freeman.
Today is also my mom's birthday, and we celebrated by going out to dinner.
So...
Yeah!

Sometimes, Casey and I take normal pictures.
This was not one of those times.

That's it, I need a captain's hat. I look fantastic in it.

Ventuno

A mall day with Casey today. She's spending a few nights at my house, and we've basically been spending all of our time watching bad infomercials on the Smithsonian channel. And the shows, of course, for their educational value.
Anyway, I have TARDIS socks now. My life is complete.

30x30 Items:
Dress: WalMart | Shirt: thrifted
Other stuff:
Necklace, belt: Fashion Bug | Bag: Target | Tights: Hue | Shoes: Vans | Ring: BOOLVD
(Check out Dani and Jess and enjoy that, okay?)

Also: Day 2 of 30 Days of Music. Today's challenge: my least favourite song. Oh.
I had trouble with this, but then I heard the song today and that just reminded me how strongly I dislike it, for no particular reason. So... Yeah.
It's "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dogg.

Just Kidding, There's Ghosts

No, seriously, I need to stop going to the mall before everyone there knows me by name.
On a side note, I just really love gyros right now, but I'm only in it for the tzatziki.
Casey's uncomfortably besotted with her mannequin boyfriend.

I can't take mine seriously. Sorry.

Sorry about the crazy eyes. I can't take normal pictures.

We each got makeup sets, in our newly decided respective prints.
Ten points if you guess whose is
whose.
All from Forever 21.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to read a book by Cousteau, and that is terrifically interesting.

No Snowman Balloons for Us

It's been a long week, which is sort of funny, considering the fact that it was technically a short week. Hooray for bank holidays! Whoo!
Of course, since I had Monday off and Erika ditched classes that day (terrible student), we went to the mall.
I know.
The rest of the week passed as expected, and I discovered that I really, really love working with pastels. They're definitely one of my favorite mediums, up there with ink. It's funny, probably only to me, because I hate working with charcoal because it's so messy. Pastels, however, which are INCREDIBLY messy, are just the best things ever to me.
I know.
We watched a clip from an Italian horror film in Italian (surprise!), and now I'm really disappointed that it's not streaming on Netflix. It's a really campy horror, with a fantastic score. You can find scenes from it on Youtube. It's called Suspiria. Or something very similar.
Today, I went to the mall with Erika and an old friend of ours, Yesenia. I haven't seen Yesenia in a couple of years, and it was really lovely. The trip there was fraught with danger, though, since Erika's car decided to stall or something in the middle of the road. Luckily, she was able to get it back to life and it's working well enough, I suppose. But to top it off, she misplaced something that kind of ruined her night, but we got that problem solved pretty quickly. It was just one of those nights.
And of course, because I have a problem, I spent more money that I should have. But I can justify it because I finally have combat boots and I am happy, okay? Okay.
I'm going to the mall again tomorrow.
I know.
There were too many people in the way of a good penguin
picture.

The Three Choclatiers! No? Okay.

Do You Tip Your Cops?

I know it seems like I spend all of my time at the mall.
You'd be right, if it wasn't for the classes and whatnot. I swear, I've spent more time at the mall in the past three weeks than is likely healthy.
Today, it was with Casey. It was a prolific spree. Shockingly, neither of us spent too much. That was nice.
At Red Robin today, they were doing this cool thing, called Tips for Cops. The cops worked as waitstaff, basically, and all tips went to the Special Olympics. They make pretty decent waiters, if I do say so myself.
I got a free sandwich, too, since it's my birthday month. That was nice, too.
I feel like it made up for this week. Well, no. That implies that my week was unpleasant. Really, the only unpleasant thing was taking five and a half hours to get home (so. many. buses.) and the train breaking down one stop away from my normal station. That one didn't go too badly, though, since I decided to just go home, and ended up spending the afternoon making/eating chicken noodle soup with Casey.
Regardless, I like buying new things.
And let me tell you, I did just that.
Absolutely flawless sunglasses. Even if they're painfully
expensive.

See, fezzes are cool!

Epic Monopoly Piece Battles

Friday night, I was actually a cool kid. Leather jacket and all.
I spent Friday afternoon at the mall with Erika. She went to get a slight problem fixed with a shirt she bought last week, I ended up buying two more pairs of sunglasses.
I don't have a problem, I swear.
After wasting time with dinner (I made scrambled eggs for the first time, with sausage and cheese and garlic, and oh man, it was amazing) and whatnot, we went to It's a Grind. There was an open mic, and our friends were playing.
We lurked (well, I did—the jacket ensured it) for a bit outside, while a couple of high schoolers became virtual groupies of Noel's bass. Also, Erika played with Beyrin's guitar for a bit. Or something like that.
They played two songs, and honestly, they were fantastic. The band, Kingyo, is amazing. I'm continually impressed that I'm friends with such talented people. Everyone in the coffee shop enjoyed it, and Beyrin found some new fan(atics) of his own. Well, one fanatic. Who kind of sort of tried to hold his hand outside. I think he was one of the ones saying that he loved him during the second song. No one will ever know.
While Erika and Beyrin disappeared in the coffee shop for coffe (wild!), some of the high school kids got a little rowdy. When they got back, we joked about how we broke up the fight. But, of course, I am who I am, so I said that I actually started the fight (which didn't actually exist, for the record). Traba said that I had blood on my spikes, so I looked down and said that I thought that I'd cleaned them off.
This is what happens when I'm allowed to talk to people.
There were more kids lusting over Noel's bass, french fry piles at McDonald's, ketchup stains appearing magically on Edgar's shirt, and bromantic serenades from Traba to Beyrin before I finally went home.
Since when do I have a life?
As if to make up for it, I spent my Saturday doing art homework and getting caught up on TV. That's right.

Forever 21 Jacket and blouse.
Natural intimidation.

Terrible picture of fantastic music. Whoops.

Arnold Palmers on the Secret Menu

I spent today with Erika. And yesterday. And Monday. It's actually been a lot of fun, though, so don't count on me getting bored. We have some adventures planned for next week, too, so there's that to look forward to.
Today, we went to the mall, and oh dear everything, I should not have gone to the mall. I bought two dresses nothing of import from eShakti yesterday, and then quite a bit of stuff today. I got a great outfit that I can't wait to debut, though, some excellent heels, and a couple pairs of sunglasses. Oh, and two pairs of thigh-highs! I'm so excited because now I don't have to deal with tights all the time and one pair is black lurex, and that's reason enough to be thrilled, don't you think?
Also, for fun, I thought do do a What's In My Bag post. It's fun for me, at least. I don't even know.
What's in my bag at any given moment: camera (and case), learner's permit, wallet (from Avenue, years ago), notebook and pencil, house key, mirror, cell phone, lip balm (this one is huckleberry), and sunglasses (Claire's).
The wear is starting to show on my favourite bag.

Eight and a Mall Trip

I spent more money than I should have, on things I don't need.
Oh, and food.
Although, really, who says that I don't desperately need a pair of red heart sunglasses, or a straw bag with a flamingo on it? I think it's very, very necessary.

Dress: Forever 21 | Bag: Ross | Necklace: Forever 21 | Shoes: Payless (and dusty from a walk in the desert).
This dress is my absolute favourite. I like the collar and the print, and I love the cutouts in the back. I live for little details like that. Well, little details and sunglasses.

USA! USA! USA!

The title is irrelevant to everything but the sidewalk spray-painted with USA that caused us to chant. Really, Casey and I are always looking for an excuse to chant.
Anyway.
Let's start this post off with a bit of lusting, shall we? Because we went to the mall today and I saw these fantastic smoking slippers from Steve Madden, and I'm in love, and I came close to being in debt. They're just so perfect! I saw a black studded pair that I love more than the rest, but these pictures ought to suffice.

They're just so flawless. Find them here, here, and here. Perhaps you'll have an extremely benevolent streak and gift a girl a pair and know that she will wear them for the rest of her life. Haha.
We also made friends with an adorable pug puppy. She liked to chew on the pom-poms of my skirt, but I was totally okay with it because she was just too cute, and I was too charmed to care. Apparently, I will let anything particularly adorable chew on my clothes. This is important stuff to know.
I would have bought her and named her macaroni, but I'm pretty sure my cat would eat her. My cat isn't exactly nice, and she's bigger than that dog will ever be. She's kind of a bully.

Anyway, here's what I wore today.
