Turquoise

Hey, guys, it's Monday, and you know what that means! Right? Well, you should know by now that it's Marvelous Monday! Yeah!
This week's theme: favourite colour!
You've all seen pictures of my room, or, at least a couple different pieces of it. Nearly everything in my room is a shade of blue or, more specifically, turquoise. That's because it's my favourite, of course. I mean, look at my blog.
Anyway, that was only part of the reason for my outfit. The rest is that Casey and I decided to go out to the Boulevard, braving the 100+ degree weather in pursuit of pupusas. That was so worth it, as was the trip to the antique store and the coffee shop. I ended up getting this fantastic, cheesy little cookbook from the antique store, too! It was published in 1953 by Edison, so a huge portion is just touting "The Electric Kitchen!" It's also big on the whole classic '50s housewife thing, but it does look like it'll at least be a bit useful, and it's cute, so that's totally worth it. Plus, it was dirt cheap, and I guess I'm collecting old books now.
Aww yiss.
Anyway, clothes! Right! I donned this outfit because this dress is 100% cotton, and thus much cooler than most other clothes I own. I also decided to do something interesting with it, and this shirt has made its triumphant return!
Thanks, Casey!

Casey's favourite shot of me. I don't recall what's
happening here.

My charming photographer. Ugh.

This thing is just so fantastic.

Ye Olde Everything

Posting a picture in my flower crown yesterday reminded me that I didn't give you pictures from the Renaissance Faire!
Oh.
I should be more sorry about that, shouldn't I?
So, flower crowns through the ages Ren Faire photos!
Aww, my first Ren Faire. Also, a barbarian.

I am so going to be a pirate next time. Or River Song. Either works.

I don't know who the waving guy is, but I like his cheeriness.

Guys, that's the queen.

It took some maneuvering to get an angle where you could
actually see his face under all that hat.

Compare the 2013 photos to this one and
 laugh.
Oh, and as I'm sure you've noticed, I've done a bit of messing around with my layout. Thoughts? Feelings? Opinions? Nada?
Yeah.

Will You Bring Food?

Yesterday was fun, even if it was spent in a partial haze from exhaustion. Sometimes, it's just impossible to get your brain to slow down, especially when you quite distinctly have to get up in two and a half hours. So I ended up sleeping in and meeting Casey at the Bolevard in the afternoon. Bolstered with coffee, we wandered around as usual and did our thing.
We spent a good long while hanging out with a friend before heading to the Underground Lounge. Casey was excited cause she's an official grown-up; I was excited cause I was allowed in at all and was promised snacks. I've since discovered that I actually really like fried pickles.
That's really the full extent of my interesting day. I came home, ate dinner, and crashed much earlier than usual.
On a barely related note, I've brought my purple dress back into circulation. That's the best sign that the weather has been lovely. Well, here, at least.
Thank you, Casey.

Four-in-the-morning manicures are a thing, right?

The lounge also doubles as a cosmic bowling alley.

Just a Bit Shady

Casey and I wandered all around town on Thursday. We each got a haircut (I desperately needed a trim), talked to someone about maybepossiblyhopefully getting a job (how many appendages can I cross at once?), and did our usual farmer's market thing. Just with more delicious tacos from our usual papusa place.
We did discover this mini mall, which was finally open when we were around, and decided to check it out. There are shops in the absolute very front, but once you pass that little area, it's absolutely deserted, and maybe more than a bit creepy. I love it, though. I love places like that are maybe a bit shady, perhaps a bit grotty, and full of mediocre-quality things that are only a dollar.

Beware the Ice Cream Man

Today, we did a lot of walking. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, so we ran some errands before going to lunch, and then going to the Boulevard. I had some awesome ceviche.
Our wanderings weren't too exciting, but they did eventually lead to a wicked sunburn. It's only March and I'm already scorched.
I did end up buying two books from the Friends of the Library, and for $1.50 altogether. I'd call that a victory, even if my skin is calling the day a defeat.
What's in my bag? That would be: keys, sunglasses, ancient WalMart wallet, camera case, The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox, Forever 21 compact, notebook, pen, phone, and Baby Lips (not pictured, for whatever odd reason).
Books of the day!

Hipster.

Thanks, Casey.

Sassy Goldfish

I spent the morning at Casey's today, playing Infinity Blade (fun, but painfully repetitive) and watching Important Things with Demetri Martin. I always forget just how much I love him, and how much I love that show. I don't understand how it was only on for two seasons.
Eventually, we roused ourselves and headed out into the world. First farmer's market in ages, aww yeah. Unfortunately, only one person recognised us, as most of the other vendors were gone. Well, not gone so much as replaced with strangers we've yet to properly break in. That was disappointing.
I got cucumber soda (my favourite), Casey got Jones, and we continued wandering. I finally heard "Thrift Shop," and oh man, I think I'm in love with that song. It's hilarious.
After wandering even more and traipsing through our favourite vintage shop (I so should have bought the yodeling hat, it was surprisingly cute and I was totally channeling Peter Pan), we met up with Erika and Beyrin.
Erika and I stopped in to visit with her hairdresser, who also happens to be a family friend. He cut my hair once before (back in March), and the pair of them carried on and on about my hair, but I think it's growing on Erika. I certainly hope so.
More wandering, and eventually, we ended up in a coffee shop where we developed a children's book that will be awesome. I'd love for it to be a thing. Maybe we're all a bit overexcited, but I don't care, it's perfect.I can't wait to see our other friends' reactions to it.
And now I'm going to spend the rest of my night reading and watching Red Dwarf. (By the way, Lister and Cat might be my new style icons. Yes.)
The life I lead is an adventurous one.
Thank you, Casey.

Plus One

Yesterday, I did a handful of things. I did homework at Casey's (where we both berated the teacher more than was necessary for being bad at online classes), and played far too much Temple Run to be socially acceptable.
I also went to Erika's house for a party, where I was fed Colombian empanadas. You don't even know how much I love them. I might have a new favourite food. I also played far too much Temple Run to be socially acceptable. But, to even out the social ineptitude, I talked to people. We also enjoyed a horrifically bad horror movie that ended a lot more interestingly than I'd anticipated. One point for the movie! It was A Haunting in Salem, and I am extremely disappointed that it didn't end the way I was expecting.
I forgot to take a picture of my outfit, but I'll be sure to recreate it again in the near future. It was a good one.
Today, I went to WalMart with my mom. That's been the full extent of it.
Banana, Puka, and I are fabulous.
Does anyone else remember that fantastic cartoon movie,
AnastasiaDid anyone else get it a couple of years ago? Does
anyone else watch it regularly?
Didn't think so.
Top: Forever 21 (gift from mom) | Skirt: Fashion Bug | Sunglasses: Image | Flats I keep forgetting to include in the actual picture: Payless
Also, I've gotten three Baby Lips in two days. Guys, a life tip: don't ever buy Baby Lips. You will end up trying to buy them all. They're just too perfect. Especially Cherry Me.

Trente

So today ends 30x30 for me! I don't have  a good outfit shot, but you can use your imagination and a couple of shots I took today.
Casey and I had (yet another) mall adventure. Not only did we wander and buy stuff, we also went to a matinee showing of The Hobbit. And yep, I still really love Martin Freeman.
Today is also my mom's birthday, and we celebrated by going out to dinner.
So...
Yeah!

Sometimes, Casey and I take normal pictures.
This was not one of those times.

That's it, I need a captain's hat. I look fantastic in it.

Ventisei

I went to a show for the first time in way too long. I really love going to shows, and I can only hope that I get to go more often this year.
It's funny, because I often see people (girls specifically) talking about "how ridiculous it is when girls dress like they're going to a tea party." Guys, I'm that girl. I dress the way I normally dress, just with a bit more thought. I always wear comfy shoes, a ponytail, a crossbody bag, and clothes that can and will be tossed into a washing machine. Other than that, who cares? (I basically dressed like I was going to a tea party at the last show anyway, so...)
Besides, everyone knows that the only clothing faux pas at a show is wearing a shirt with the name of one of the bands that's playing, unless you bought it at the show. Just saying.
Anyway, long story short, I wore clothes to a show and survived the show.
I miss this!
30x30 Items:
Tee: Old Navy | Skirt: Fashion Bug
Other stuff:
Jacket, shoes: Forever 21 | Tights: WalMart | Bag: MulberryxTarget
Also, this got surprisingly rant-y. Sorry, guys. I love everyone who goes to shows, regardless of what they wear, okay?
And yesterday's music task was a band that I hate. And, okay, that feels a bit mean, but, uh, okay. Can I just say that I really, really dislike Vampires Everywhere!? Is that allowed? Cause it's true.
So.
Yeah.

Venticinque

I wear this sweater way too often.
Another thing I did today: practically clean out the 99 Cent Store of their candy, with the help of Casey. It was worth it, for the sea salt dark chocolate, and the hazelnut chocolate seashells.
30x30 Items:
Sweater: thrifted | Skirt: Fashion Bug | Top (underneath): Forever 21
Other stuff:
Bag: MulberryxTarget | Sunglasses: Charming Charlie | Flats that you can't see: Payless
Also: today's music challenge. It's a song that makes me sleepy. That would be "Gymnopedie No. 1."

Ventiquattro

Today's adventure was just WalMart and a lot of TV. Though, to be fair, more than an hour of TV counts as a lot to me. I basically only watch three shows right now, and two of them are on hiatus.
Anyway.
Yeah.
Southern California is currently being hit in the face by a cold snap, so I'm thinking that I won't be going out in to the world tomorrow. Of course, there's no telling, but that's irrelevant, or something.
30x30 Items:
Sweater: thrifted | Dress: WalMart
Other stuff:
Tights: WalMart | Flats (not pictured (sorry)): Payless
Also, today's music task is a song that I know all the words to. There are a handful, but I recently discovered that I somehow learned all the words to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which I am completely okay with.

Spongebob Squarepants!

Today's music task is a song that reminds me of an event. Casey and I went to Warped Tour the summer before last, and it was fantastic. Even if I came out of it with a third-degree sunburn. In spite of my sunscreen.
Anyway, one of the bands we saw was Less Than Jake, and I love them immensely. They played a small handful of cartoon theme songs, gave a girl a mohawk (for her birthday), and just made the day an awesome one.
Best. Day. Ever.
(Among many, of course.)

(Another) Lazy Day

When Casey spends the week at my house, we just spend all our time sitting around, either watching movies or living on the internet.
We are completely fine with this, thanks.
Anyway, today's music challenge is a song that reminds me of someone. Since Casey's currently in the room, I'll go for a song that reminds me of her. It's basically the anthem of our friendship, since we sing it all the time, whether or not is socially appropriate. I think one of our best moments was a spontaneous rendition in Home Depot.
Awww, yeah.

Movie Day

No outfit today, just movies with Casey.
But anyway, you get Day 3 of 30 Days of Music. Today's is a song that makes me happy!
I love Ludo, almost more than life itself. And while most of their songs make me happy, this one is so ostentatiously so cheerful, so "Get up, dust yourself off, and smile cause you're gonna win." It's perfect.
"Battle Cry" by Ludo. Enjoy this.

Ventuno

A mall day with Casey today. She's spending a few nights at my house, and we've basically been spending all of our time watching bad infomercials on the Smithsonian channel. And the shows, of course, for their educational value.
Anyway, I have TARDIS socks now. My life is complete.

30x30 Items:

Other stuff:
Necklace, belt: Fashion Bug | Bag: Target | Tights: Hue | Shoes: Vans | Ring: BOOLVD
(Check out Dani and Jess and enjoy that, okay?)

Also: Day 2 of 30 Days of Music. Today's challenge: my least favourite song. Oh.
I had trouble with this, but then I heard the song today and that just reminded me how strongly I dislike it, for no particular reason. So... Yeah.
It's "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dogg.

Seidici

I completely forgot to take pictures of my outfit on Wednesday. Oops. Hopefully, this will suffice.
I went to Casey's on Wednesday. We exchanged gifts (the necklace she got me is too fantastic), watched Fellowship of the Ring, and gorged ourselves on sweets. All in all, the makings of an excellent day.
And, for the record, I think she's over the moon about my sudden decision to get into Lord of the Rings. Anything to make the people in my life happy with my life choices.
30x30 Items:
Dress: mom
Other stuff:
Bag: Nine West | Shoes: Payless
I'm not sure if I've shown you guys the back of this dress. I designed it, and my mom sewed it, complete with fantastic triangle cutout.
I swear, I wear this more often than anyone ever should. It's absurdly comfortable and somehow makes me look like I'm going to a tea party. I like all of that, I really do. Also, the cutout.

Sei

Today, you guys get a bit of a two-for-one. My outfit pulled double duty, as it had to carry me though school and a tea party. I forgot my camera for the tea (sorry!) but at least I got a shot of my outfit. Hopefully that makes up for it.
Quick story about my day, though. Not that it's interesting. I just like sharing, guys. I feel like we're friends.
After finishing the big class art project (we each created a tile then put it together, like a giant Picasso puzzle), we got out of drawing at one rather than 2:30. Most of my art group went over to Starbucks for lunch, pet stories, and discussions on our favourite Disney movies. After dropping another member of our group off at her class, the three of us sat in K's car for a solid half hour playing music on our iPods and rocking out. Then, K went home, leaving me and J to watch videos (I love introducing people to Sherlock (guys, it's on Netflix (so is Doctor Who))) for another forty-five minutes.
There is a reason why drawing is my favourite class, and it is that group.
Eventually, I made it back into town. My mom picked me up, we picked Casey up, and we all picked up some cat food. I did some magic and my outfit went from comfy to mostly-tea-appropriate.
The tea was a lot of fun. My aunt and one of her friends were hostesses (among nearly a hundred others, I'm not sure how many tables/groups there were), and the food was delicious. I gorged myself on tea, if that's possible. Not likely. There was singing (which Casey and I totally knocked out of the park), a story, and a raffle. The raffle was totally rigged, I swear.
But then, I always say it.
And then I came home and made this post.
Next on the agenda: watch a movie and then go to sleep.

Uno

Sorry I didn't get this up till the 2nd, though to be fair, it's only just past midnight. So, in my eyes, it works.
I know. Full of excuses.
Whatever.
So, today/yesterday was also sort of the start of the holiday season. Casey came over and we basically spent the day baking, decorating my house, watching Christmas specials, taking my niece and nephews to the playground, and wandering WalMart. There was a minor camera-related accident in WalMart, but luckily, it didn't end too badly. So hooray for that.
Also, I bought  more books. Luckily, I do, in fact, physically have room on my bookshelf.
Anyway, without further ado: my first outfit for this 30x30. I hope that little summary of my day worked as fanfare, I really do.

I like swings, okay?

Casey and a nephew, living sloth dreams.
