Hearts On My Sleeve

The internet has told me one thing and one thing only today: I am clearly not American enough for the Superbowl. Not only did I have no idea it was today (to be fair, I barely even knew today was Sunday), but I didn't even know which teams were playing. A quick scroll through Twitter told me everything I didn't need to know, though, so I can go on pretending that I care.
Just kidding.
I don't. (Sorry.)
Anyway, I'm still sick. Luckily, I think I'm finally on the mend, but I still felt like I needed a bit of cheering up. And thus I found myself in the most fantastic sweater anyone's ever owned, ever. It's so soft, and I want to live in it.
Most of my day has been spent writing, listening to "Miracle Mile" on loop, writing, and napping with Jerry the Buffalo because Charlie clearly wants nothing to do with me.
Ingrate.

[Insert Doctor Who Theme Here]

So today begins a lot of things. February comes to mind. Also, Fatshion February! Whoo! Yeah!
To celebrate, I wore a new dress that really ought to have pockets, heels that are still just a bit too high for me to walk in, and Doctor Who socks. Unfortunately, I'm not too thrilled with the socks paired with these shoes. I try them with other shoes. Surely there's a way to make them fashionably acceptable!
Also, I felt the need to show off my tree pose. Which, admittedly, isn't all that, but STILL. I'm charming, okay?
Finally, I'm also posting to my tumblr, so every corner of the internet can enjoy my face.

Dress, heels: Forever 21 | Socks: Hot Topic | Belt: Fashionbug
I'm also busy coughing up a storm and subsisting on cough drops, as I've told various other social platforms So, if I ever look like I've just finished hacking up a lung and a half, don't be alarmed. I have been doing precisely that.
And wow, I complain about being sick quite a lot. Sorry about that, guys.

Outta the Park

I'm not 100% certain where that title came from.
Anyway, I'm going to do something absurd that that's knock out the last four days of the 30 Day Music Challenge. I know, I know. I think.
See, I'm starting Fatsion February tomorrow (hooray!) and I've decided to do only one thing at a time this time. Also, I'm sure you're all tired of random music videos cropping up.
Anyway.
Day 27: a song I wish I could play. That's "Jilly Armeen" by Jamie T.
Day 28: a song that makes me feel guilty. Well, this song makes me feel guilty only because I feel bad about feeling really disappointed in this band. That's a long story that doesn't need to be delved into, but here ya go. "Beautiful Machine" by Party At Her Place.
Day 29: a song from my childhood. I could have gone for Britney Spears, or "Mambo No. 5" or something, but I chose the theme song to my favourite show. Awwww yeah.
And finally, Day 30: my favourite song this time last year. Simple. "Jesus" by Brand New, but the one from the Daisy sessions. Best ever.
Hooray!
Okay, so, see you tomorrow, guys!

Lust List: Ear Decor

It's no secret that my ears aren't pierced. I know, I know.
Anyway, I have plans to get my hair basically cut off soon, and everyone in my life agrees: if I'm going to get a pixie cut, I have to get my ears pierced so I can wear cute earrings. And I've finally decided that, when I finally get the pixie (I've been saying that this is happening since last June, but now I'm determined), I will put additional holes in my ears. It's either happening in March, or tomorrow, depending on a handful of things. If it doesn't happen tomorrow, then I might make a post basically composed of pixie cut pictures.
Long story made shorterish, here's a collection of earrings I like, okay?

(Once) Master Flautist

So, my life is boring. Still.
All I've done lately is write, watch my cat fly around the living room (almost literally, sometimes), and sleep. And that is precisely how it should be.
Anyway, today's musical challenge is quick and easy. That would be: a song I can play on an instrument!
You all should know that, if you give me a piano, glockenspiel, or a xylophone, I will play "Happy Birthday To You" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Every. Single. Time. They're basically all I know how to play. I used to play the flute, and I used to be quite good at it, but that was years ago and I've since given it to my aunt.
So...
Yeah.
As a consolation prize, here's one of the songs I've been listening to way too much lately. Enjoy. Or don't.

O' the Day

Today's song is one that makes me laugh. The first time I heard it, I fell in love and went raking across the internet to find it. Of course, I found it pretty quickly, and since then I've listened to it far more times than I'm sure is socially acceptable.
That song would be "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" by Tom Lehrer.

Lust List: Professional Adult

I say this often, and I'm about to say it again: I need a job. I'm taking all online classes this semester, which means that I need a job to kill time. In addition to a job's money-making capabilities, of course.
Anyway, I've been working on a resume, ensuring that my closet is at least vaguely job-appropriate, asking if people are hiring, and (of course) looking online for grown-up clothes.
I can't help thinking that calling professional attire grown-up clothes defines my whole life.
Anyway, I compiled a bunch of clothes that I think (hope) would be acceptable in the grown-up world of making money. I also threw in some cool jewelry because, well, what's life without whimsy? Or that amazing collar necklace thing?
You'd hire me, right?

Round and Round

So, today I did a lot of things. Namely, I got dressed, took way too many pictures of my face and my new favourite sunglasses, played favourites with my jackets, and drove. In traffic. A lot.
Yeah.

Jacket, top: Forever 21 | Skirt: Fashion Bug | Tights: WalMart | Boots: Forever | Sunglasses: Image
And, you know, music task of the day: a song I want at my funeral. I'm actually really glad that I wrote this up after driving; otherwise, it would feel like tempting fate. Even if I did a pretty good job, thankyouverymuch.
The song is "The Lark Ascending," by Ralph Vaughan Williams. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, so...yep.
Also, a quick note. Next month will be the wonderful Fatshion February, and it will officially be my third. I'll be posting here, and my tumblr, so you can't miss me wearing clothes in February. Let me know if you'll be joining me! It won't serve much purpose, but I like knowing.

Adventures in Nothing, Really

I just babysat my niece and nephew today, basically. So all I have to offer is today's song. That song would be one I want played at my wedding. That would be "The Book of Love," by Magnetic Fields.

Musical Catch-Up

I'm way behind. Let's make this quick, kay?
Day 19: A song off my favourite album. I chose "Bulldozer" by Cold War Kids, off Mine is Yours.
Day 20: A song I listen to when I'm angry. "Be Calm" by fun.
Day 21: A song I listen to when I'm happy. I'm not sure, I listen to a lot of generally cheerful stuff. So, uh, I'll just pick a song I like. "Lalita" by The Love Language.
Day 22: A song I listen to when I'm sad. If you're in a drizzly mood, go listen to "Generator" by The Holloways. This is honestly one of the sweetest, happiest, cheeriest songs in the universe, I swear.
