Cinco de Rainbow

So I decided to make a rainbow cake. It was originally for my niece's birthday party, but plans are foiled, and it's all good because we still have Cinco de Mayo to claim the cake.
Yeah.
It's not a glowing success, but it's good, and that is all that matters.
Here's what you need:
Sprite (Zero or otherwise)
2 boxes of white cake mix
Oil and eggs as called for on the box
Frosting (white works best, but you follow your heart)
Food colouring
SO MANY BOWLS
Icing (optional, depending on how fancy you are)

It's actually really, really easy. Just a little time consuming.

Mix your basic ingredients in a big bowl. Just replace the water with Sprite. Seriously, just that easy. You don't even know. Except now you do.
Pour your batter into a bunch of different bowls. Basically, it's one per colour. Like I said, easy.
About fifteen drops per colour works to make your colour bright and vibrant and bright, but you can have a pastel cake if you want.
Pour it into a pan, or two pans (I did two batches due to poor planning). Here's the trick: pour each colour in, one at a time, in the order/place that you want. But remember, don't mix it. There's your special tip, guys. Don't mix your colours.
Bake it for as long as the box/oven dictates.
Take it out and let it/them cool.
Revel in the fact that they look super cool. Seriously. When they're cool (temperature-wise, they're already rad), put them on baking racks. I put wax paper down first. Be aware: you probably will lose a corner because you were super lazy the first time. The second layer will be a good one, so you won't feel like a total failure.
Let them chill overnight, if you want. Get up in the morning and frost yo' cake.
Some of the frosting you see here is from the fact that it's a two-later cake. The rest of it is from the fact that it was super crumbly due to my poor transferring skills and life sucked. Whatever, IT'S STILL BEAUTIFUL.
Ice it if you want. Yes, I used white (confetti) icing on a white cake. I'm being subtle, okay?
Hopefully your adventure in rainbow cakes goes a little better than mine, but no matter what, it will be delicious. The Sprite gives it a little lime kick that just tastes perfect.
So, uh, yeah. Celebrate stuff and make rainbow cakes.
